EV Charger Installation

Smart, solar-ready Ohme charge points for homes and businesses, installed by NICEIC-registered electricians across St Helens, Liverpool, Warrington, Wigan, Manchester and the wider North West.

Charge at Home. Charge at Work.

As more drivers make the switch to electric, a properly installed charge point is the difference between a car that is always ready and one that is a daily inconvenience. We design, supply and install Ohme smart chargers for private homes, workplaces and commercial car parks right across the North West.

Every charger is fitted by our own NICEIC-registered electricians, to the same standard we have applied to commercial installations since 1964. From a single charger on your driveway to a bank of units for a company fleet, we handle the survey, the supply upgrade if needed, the installation and the handover.

And because we also install solar PV and battery storage, we can go a step further than most EV installers, connecting your charger to your own clean energy so you can charge your car from the sun.

Cheaper, Cleaner, Smarter Charging

Ohme chargers are built to work with smart energy tariffs from providers including Octopus and OVO. That means your car can automatically charge during the cheapest, greenest hours overnight, without you having to think about it.

Everything is controlled through the Ohme app or the buttons on the charger. Set a target charge, schedule it around your tariff, and track every session. Firmware updates arrive over the air, and the built-in SIM keeps the charger connected with no wiring to your broadband.

Pair a charger with the solar PV and battery systems we install and the picture gets even better. Excess electricity from your panels can be diverted straight into your car, so you drive on energy you generated yourself.

Support Towards Your Installation

Businesses may be able to reduce the cost of going electric through the government's Workplace Charging Scheme, which offers a grant towards the supply and installation of charge points at eligible premises.

Some homes, such as flats and rental properties, may also qualify for the EV chargepoint grant. Eligibility and grant levels change from time to time, so we will confirm exactly what you can claim as part of your quotation, with no assumptions and no surprises.

The Ohme chargers we fit are approved for these government schemes, and every installation complies with the UK Smart Charging Regulations, so you can be confident it meets current standards.

EV Charging FAQs

Can I charge my car from my solar panels?

Yes. Ohme chargers are solar-compatible, so with a working CT clamp fitted they can top up your car using excess electricity generated by your solar panels. As solar PV and battery storage installers ourselves, we can design a fully integrated system where your EV charges from clean energy you have generated on site.

How long does it take to install an EV charger?

A standard single home charger installation is usually completed within a few hours. Workplace and multi-charger installations take longer and depend on the number of units, the distance from your electrical supply and any groundworks required. We carry out a survey first, so you know exactly what is involved before any work begins.

What is the difference between the Ohme ePod and the Ohme Home Pro?

The Ohme ePod is a compact untethered charger with a Type 2 socket, so you use your own charging cable. The Ohme Home Pro is a larger tethered unit with a built-in cable and a colour screen on the front. Both deliver 7.4kW, work with smart energy tariffs and are solar-compatible. We help you choose the right one for your property.

Are grants available for EV chargers?

Businesses may be able to claim government support through the Workplace Charging Scheme, which offers a grant towards the cost of installing charge points. Some homes, such as flats and rental properties, may also qualify for the EV chargepoint grant. Eligibility and grant levels change over time, so we will confirm what you can claim as part of your quotation.

Do you install chargers for businesses as well as homes?

Yes. We install single home chargers, workplace charging for staff and visitors, and multi-charger installations for fleets and commercial car parks. Ohme chargers use dynamic load balancing, which lets multiple units share your available supply safely without overloading it.
